Baycan Elektrik, One of Turkey's Largest Cable Bundling Playmakers, Will Increase Its Capacity 2.5 Times and Grow 25% in 2023

Baycan AŞ, which provides services to leading brands in its field from Arçelik to Vestel, from Beko to Vitra in Eskişehir OSB, as one of Turkey’s largest Cable Grouping playmakers, reached a turnover of 470 million TL in 2022. Emphasizing that 2023 will be Baycan’s year of attack, Baycan Electric General Manager Engin Yılmaz announced that they will increase their installed capacity by 2.5 times and grow by 25% in 2023. Baycan is among the top five cable bundling companies in the Turkish white goods industry. The size of this market is 2.3 billion TL and Baycan’s share in this sector is 20%. Baycan Elektrik serves with 1,000 people under one roof and is one of the companies that employs women the most in the sector, with 80% of its female employees.

Türkiye is Europe's Largest White Goods Manufacturer

Stating that the economic market size of Turkey Cable Grouping and Special Cable Groupings is 4.8 billion dollars, Baycan Elektrik General Manager Engin Yılmaz said that according to 2021 data, the white goods produced and exported in Turkey are 5.3 billion dollars. Emphasizing that Turkey is Europe’s largest white goods producer in terms of volume, Yılmaz carefully underlined that Turkey ranks 6th in terms of demands in the white goods market in Europe. Yılmaz gave the following information about the Turkish and world sector: “According to 2019 sector data, our country has a domestic market size of 3.7 billion TL. In the same period, as Baycan Elektrik, we are the playmaker in the sector with a market share of 3.14%. According to 2019 data, the world’s total trade is 4 trillion dollars, and an average of 78 billion dollars of this trade belongs to the ‘manufacture of electronic and electrical wires and cables’ sector, in which we are a part. This volume corresponds to 1% of our country’s volume.”

Deemed Deserving of the 'Best Supplier' Award by Arçelik

Baycan Elektrik Müteahhitlik Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ. was established in Istanbul in 1967 as a certified supplier workshop to Arçelik with a staff of 20 people. In 1988, it moved to its 7,500 square meter facility located in Eskişehir Organized Industrial Zone. The company, which received the Best Supplier award from Arçelik in 1992, has moved towards developing long-term partnerships. It received ISO 9001 certificates in 1994 and IATF F16949 certificates in 2019. Baycan, which started working with Vestel in 2014, became a certified supplier of Haier in 2022. In the same year, it gained its place as a certified supplier in the aviation and defense industry by obtaining the AS 9100 certificate. Baycan Elektrik’s new factory investment of 13,500 square meters is expected to be completed in the second period of 2023.

Reached 470 Million TL Turnover and Grew by 27 Percent

Stating that customer satisfaction and quality are the focus of their work, Baycan Elektrik General Manager Engin Yılmaz said, “Considering both our share in the country’s market share and our potential volume in exports, we can strategically say that our target markets in exports are the EU, the USA and African countries. “We also export directly or indirectly to European, African and Russian markets,” he said. Stating that they will expand to a wider market in exports, Yılmaz said that in 2022; He said that they reached a turnover of 470 Million TL and that they will grow by 27% in 2022 compared to 2019. Yılmaz said, “As of 2020, it has continued with an average growth of around 18% in two years due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has deeply affected all sectors. In this period, with the increasing focus on white goods (cooling groups and hygiene products) needs, the sector stepped up and reached an added value above expectations. “Looking at 2022, it will decrease by around 9% due to factors such as some chip crises and the decrease in global demands,” he said.

We will make our second facility operational. We will grow by 25% in 2023

Stating that they have factories at two different addresses within Eskişehir OIZ, Yılmaz said that the first of these factories is the headquarters and factory-1 facility on 7th street; Stating that the second one is the Factory-2 facility located on 20th Street, he gave the following information:

“Our first facility, with a total area of 10,000 square meters, fills a significant part of its capacity with shift conditions. With our initiatives, we plan to make our second facility, which we reserved for our new candidate (defense industry) customers, operational. All investments of this new facility, which will increase our current installed capacity by 2.5 times, have been completed and only production machinery and equipment (private) investments will be made. Haier and Arçelik A.Ş., which was started and continued in 2022. The processes in the Romanian factories were concluded as of New Year’s Eve 2023. Direct export is made to Arçelik Romania refrigerator company. We also export to the EU, USA, Africa and Russian markets from time to time. Marketing management will be activated in this field in order to research and expand into new markets. Our solar power project, whose investment was completed in 2022 and put into operation at the beginning of 2023, has a production capacity of 700 thousand kWh and meets all our energy consumption. This gain will be reflected in our customers’ overhead costs and will make price competition even stronger. Baycan is among the first companies to produce solar power projects in the Eskişehir OIZ Region. In accordance with ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 certificates, it is an environmentally friendly and smokeless company that attaches importance to energy saving. Our prediction for 2023 is to grow by 25% with our new customer projects.”
