Making an evaluation on the 108th anniversary of the March 18 Çanakkale Victory, Baycan Elektrik General Manager Engin Yılmaz stated that while our country was dependent on foreign sources in the defense industry in the pre-1980 period, it has now managed to undertake high-tech projects with 80% domestic production.

BAYCAN ELEKTRIK IS QUALIFIED TO BE THE SUPPLIER OF THE DEFENSE INDUSTRY IN 2022

“We have qualified to become an approved supplier of the Defense Industry by the Ministry of National Defense in 2022, as a result of meeting the expected quality criteria in this field,” said Yılmaz, adding, “As Baycan Elektrik, we are now in Turkey’s defense and we are proud of it. Within the scope of our current projects, we started the production of cable groups for land and air vehicles (missiles, rockets, armored vehicles). “Our experienced and expert engineer team is working on the official orders of these cable groups and at the same time they are developing samples of new projects,” he said.

Informing that they work with Turkey’s top 5 defense industry leading companies as a Ministry of National Defense approved supplier, Baycan Elektrik’s General Manager Engin Yılmaz said:

“As of 2021, as Baycan Elektrik, we decided that we wanted to prove and promote ourselves in sectors other than white goods.

There is a Certified IPC Trainer in our company who has completed all the necessary training and has provided Certified IPC Specialist training to 50 of our personnel so far. Later, we completed our work for AS 9100 certification and took our place in the industry as an approved supplier of the defense industry.

Among our goals in 2023 is to start mass production with the leading defense industry companies that are in the top 5 in the Turkish market. At the same time, we plan to increase our existing 500 square meter closed production area to 3,000 square meters after the second six months. We will develop our machinery infrastructure in line with customer demands and market growth. “We have targets to work with exports in the last quarter of the year.”

WE ARE PLANNING FOR OUR PROCESS TO HAVE A 30% SHARE IN THE TURKISH MARKET

Stating that they allocated 250 thousand man-hours to the projects they carried out for the defense industry this year, Yılmaz carefully underlined that they are targeting 1 million man-hours by increasing this figure fourfold in 5 years and added: “In the national projects carried out, our own process has a 30% share in the Turkish market.” We plan to have it. “During this period, we will expand to the foreign market and provide 40% of our total income from exports.”

Stating that the defense industry is of great importance in ensuring the security of the country, Yılmaz said, “There are qualified projects with high added value in this sector.
